Garmin created this portable long-range antenna, particularly for the Garmin Alpha and Astro GPS Dog Tracking systems. This device is meant to improve the range of the hunter’s portable receiver. When a dog moves beyond the system’s range, the antenna may be stretched to 3 1/2 feet and hooked directly to the handheld through a 1 meter (about. 3 ft.) coaxial wire.

The antenna incorporates a molded handle and lanyard and is only 10.5″ long when stowed — tiny enough to be carried in a hunting vest when not in use.

Testers have claimed as much as 2-3 times the typical range of the conventional Garmin antenna (real results may vary depending on weather and topography) using this portable extended range antenna for the Garmin Astro or Garmin Alpha.

The integrated telescopic metal antenna is a handy 8.5 inches when folded and delivers good tracking results, but expands to 42.5 inches when hunting circumstances necessitate maximum range. The practical handle not only helps protect the base of your antenna while it is extended, but also includes a nice smooth-touch grip. The metal antenna is also detachable and replaced.
